- Exercising Arthritic Elderley Horses
Just because your horse is older does not mean he is set to retire and not get ridden. Even ageing equines want exercise. Not to point out the fact that they get restless not doing anything in the event that they were energetic of their day. - Horse Language
Sure, horses have a language of their own, and alas several folks aren't as tuned in to it as we should be. It is a huge error to not be familiar with their language, since it could mean issues for us in the long run. Every twist of the ear(s), hip movement, tail flick and face expression signifies something. It's the language horses use to communicate to other horses, and to us - if only we'd pay attention. We have to be aware what OUR body language says to them first before we can comprehend them. Swinging limbs while attempting to fit the halter on will cause apprehension. (…)

Have an older pony companion in your pasture? I'm sure they have got such tales they could tell. In terms of being labelled a senior horse, if the horse is 20 years or older it is a veteran or campaigner. This age interestingly would make him equivalent to 60 year old human. (…)
