Hawaii has some of the best scenery in the planet and tourism contributes seriously to the economy. One of the most famous landmarks on the island is the Coco Palms Resort Hotel. It was compelled to close in 1992 after Hurricane Iniki devastated it but the resort's new owners are hopeful that it will re-open in 2008. Encircled by a coconut grove, it made its name in the 1960s and 1970s when plenty of stars stayed there, including Elvis Presley, who made films on the island. Its return would be welcomed by the Kauai travel industry.
