Spending Time In Blackpool, England and Important Facts To Know
Blackpool is an incredibly popular seaside resort sited on the North West coast of England, which is amazingly popular with tourists traveling from the nearby cities which include Liverpool, Warrington, Manchester and more. Blackpool is also fanatically popular with the Scottish people who turn up in large groups in a similar way to the groups of factory workers of old on their company holiday. At times it seems that the resort is nothing but hotel accommodation and visitor attractions and even though there is an incredibly amount of Blackpool bed and breakfasts it is still best to make early reservations to avoid disappointment. Hotels varies from the cheerful and cheap to the totally luxurious. Many are situated on the sea front but, if you would prefer book somewhere more peaceful there are some further inland.
Blackpool first started getting tourists in the eighteenth century who had visited to enjoy the new fashion of sea bathing. With the arrival of the railways, from 1846, Blackpool witnessed increasing numbers of visitors to"take the cure" as sea bathing as it was referred to then. Today people can travel to Blackpool by automobile, train or air arriving there much faster than the early Victorian folk who could take as long as two days from Manchester.
The Blackpool Pleasure Beach
The main attraction in the seaside town of Blackpool, in Lancashire in the north west of England, which gets around 7 million customers per annum, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The Pleasure Beach is a funfair of enormous proportions with breath taking big rides, just a few are Valhalla, Ice Blast, Grand National, the Pepsi Max Big One, Zipper Dipper and Wild Mouse, and including even more children's rides, sideshows, thrill rides, entertainments, roller coasters, games and sidestalls. The most recent addition is Infusion, the first ride in the world to be a coaster of suspended loops completely over water.
Please remember: If you are planning to visit the Pleasure Beach as a family group it is possible to make savings by buying an unlimited ride wristband especially if you will be going on as many rides as you can handle because the individual cost of each ride soon adds up.
How To Get There And B&B Accommodation
As mentioned earlier in this article, Blackpool is very easy to get to these days as you are able to travel to the resort by automobile, railway or air. If you are arriving by rail you will, most likely, be using the main railway station in Blackpool, which is called Blackpool North found on Talbot Road. Not too fat away, just a little further down Talbot Road is where you will find the Blackpool National Express Coach Station. The other train station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road. Blackpool's International Airport is situated roughly 2 miles from the centre of town and was known as, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of the United Kingdom's oldest airports.
Blackpool bed and breakfast is usually priced reasonably. Accommodation is frequently cheaper in the off season and not very cheap at weekends. Blackpool hotels are most expensive during the Illuminations, which is really peak season in Blackpool.
A handy tip to remember: Some hotels can be rather noisy especially those between North and Central Pier. If you would rather in a quieter local take a look past the North Pier.
