New York can be reached ever more cheaply from most major US cities using cheap flights on low fare airlines. The New York accommodations are also well organized. The following are the major sight seeing places in New York that are not to be missed out on your first trip to New York:
Statue of Liberty - An emblem for social equality, Lady Liberty apprehended the torch to receive settlers to America more than a hundred years ago. There are 354 steps to reach the top if access has become available.
Times Square - New Yorkers describe this meeting point of Broadway and Street no. 42 as the "Crossroads of the World." This is one of the world's most famous squares and millions watch the New Years celebrations each New Year. An astounding light presentation may be witnessed when the Times Square is lit up.
Empire State Building – It was erected in 1931 and took only 410 days. It was known to be the tallest skyscraper for almost 50 years.
Central Park - This Park is packed with gently sloping meadows, plants, water body and stone links. Everything is complimentary. You can go to zoo, lease a boat or take a carriage trip in the park by paying for it.
Metropolitan Museum, otherwise known as the Met should be top of your museum priority list. The museum contains more than two million art pieces.
The Museum of Modern Art - MoMA shows off the world's maximum compilation of painting and monuments.
United Nations - You can't fail to notice the 188 national flags soaring high on top of First Avenue in the headquarters of the intercontinental organization. Tour packages would make you go through Security Council as well as General Assembly.
New York Stock Exchange - Like numerous tourists, at this juncture you would be able to observe where plenty of money is earned and missed. Go to the guests area and watch the world's most famous dealing floor in action and see the hectic close of trade with the closing bell.
Grand Central Terminal - Sometimes erroneously known as Grand Central Station, this is not a plain coach terminal. Grand Central Terminal is utilized by almost 150,000 travelers every day. Renovated in 1990, this terminal offers numerous restaurants, shops etc.
World Trade Center site - The World Trade Center conquered lower Manhattan, but it was damaged by terrorists. The World Trade Center’s towers with a height of 1,350ft (411m) were known as the tallest structures in New York and were signs of its skyline. New York Botanical Garden – This place is located in the district of Brooklyn, the garden is dwelling place of over 12,000 types of plants from all over the world.
Bronx Zoo - Though it is out of Manhattan, it's the principal metropolitan zoo in USA. The Bronx Zoo contains over 7,000 varieties of animals.
Museum of Natural History - currently seen in the 'Night at the Museum' movies with everything from dinosuars to a world class planetarium.
While finding cheap accommodation in New York is difficult there are good deals available through many last minute accommodation websites. Try and pick somewhere with a good location to access all the main sites and check travel blogs to get feedback from past guests. Do visit all these places and make the most of your time in New York city.
