Devon Vacations And The City Of Exeter
When the majority of people discuss having a vacation in Great Britain they frequently only mention resorts close to the sea such as Blackpool, Southport, Bognor Regis and Skegness. Infrequently folk may debate having a short break in a particular county in England such as Devon in south England but rarely do they think about taking a vacation in the city of Exeter. The following article examines the various reasons why a vacation in Exeter is a cool idea.
Probably one of the most important reasons for taking a short city break in Exeter is that there is cheap accommodation available with bed and breakfast in Exeter available at about £25 per night and numerous rooms around the £40 - £50 price range.
Of course there should be more than a low price to attract you to stay in a city and Exeter definitely has lots to offer the possible visitor. You will find that there are many excellent tourist attractions in the center of the city and even more near by and if this is not sufficient then Plymouth is but a short distance and you will discover that there is also low cost bed and breakfast in Plymouth and even more incredible visitor attractions. Plus you will discover masses of breathtaking sites to visit all along the nearby coast.
Where To Stay In Exeter
The Drewe Arms
This accommodation is superb, it's rooms are reasonably priced but the building itself is a charming seventeenth century thatched inn situated on the famous Two Moors Way walking route. Sadly it is 15m away from the center of the city. If you want more luxury the inn also has four-poster rooms available.
The Crawford Hotel
This accommodation is much closer to the center of the city, just over one and a half kilometers. It is a two star hotel with reasonable en suite rooms and, importantly, 24 hour access to your room, superb if you are planning to have a long night out or need access during the day. You will find there is Free wireless internet access available in the public places of the hotel.
Tourist Attractions
In the city of Exeter there are only a few of visitor attractions worth a visit including; Rougemont Castle, St Peter's Cathedral and the Royal Albert Museum. As I mentioned earlier in this article there is a small selection of nearby seaside towns to see the most beautiful being the quaint villages of Seaton, Beer and Sidmouth.
Further away, between Plymouth and Exeter is the hardly populated moorland of the Dartmoor National Park with the general region having several places worth a visit including Buckfast Abbey, Buckland Abbey and A La Ronde on the main route, to Plymouth. Along the way you will pass the Torbay area, which consists of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham and is commonly called the English Riviera.
Exeter truly is a superb city in which to take a vacation but why not debate having a two destination vacation and spend a few of days/nights in a really luxurious hotel in Plymouth and travel around the beautiful countryside and coast in between these 2 excellent vacation destinations?
